Windsor Community Band to Perform a “Spring Fling”
South Windsor, CT– The South Windsor Community Band will perform an upbeat “Spring Fling” concert on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. at the SBM Charitable Foundation, Inc. Auditorium in the Art, Science and Technology building at the Connecticut State Community College, Manchester, CT. The concert is free, and free-will donations will be accepted. After the concert, the audience will have an opportunity to meet the band at a reception.
The program reaches from traditional classics, like Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in B-flat Major to modern classics, including John Williams’ Jurassic Park. Other programmed works include A Copland Portrait and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. The concert will also feature two outstanding soloists from the band, with flautist Jessica Wolf performing the theme from Schindler’s List, and oboist Debbie Silvestri performing Gabriel’s Oboe, from the 1986 film, The Mission.
The band is led by music director Dr. Deborah Simmons along with guest conductors from the band.
Free-will offerings are appreciated but not expected. Proceeds will go to the band and the music program at Manchester Community College.
The South Windsor Community Band is a concert band that got its start in 1995 with just 15 adult musicians who may not have played their instruments since high school. Today the band is more than 50 musicians strong and draws from talents of amateur and professional musicians and educators. The SWCB performs numerous concerts in South Windsor and the surrounding areas throughout the year.
