Veterans Memorial Park Pool – South Windsor Parks & Recreation

South Windsor Parks and Recreation is seeking a professional and highly motivated Pool Supervisor to support the successful operation of Veterans Memorial Park Pool for the upcoming season. This position plays a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and customer-focused operation of all aquatic activities, programs, and staff.

Seasonal Position: 

Pre Season 15-20 hours weekly from January - May

In-Season 40 hours weekly from May - August/September

Position Title: Pool Supervisor (18+)

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor of Aquatics, the Pool Supervisor is responsible for the daily administration, supervision, and safety of Veterans Memorial Park Pool. This role oversees staff management, program support, customer service, and all operational procedures related to the facility. The Pool Supervisor ensures that all patrons and employees experience a safe, professional, and welcoming environment while maintaining compliance with state and departmental policies.

Know-How: The Pool Supervisor must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, and must be committed to providing a safe and positive experience for staff and patrons. The individual must be able to supervise a team effectively, resolve conflicts professionally, communicate with the public, and respond to emergencies as needed. Candidates should possess knowledge of aquatic facility operations, the ability to enforce policies consistently, and the capacity to work collaboratively with multiple Town departments.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/FA and CPR-PR/AED certifications
• Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
• Current (or working toward) American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification
• Minimum of two years’ experience working at an aquatic facility
• Knowledge of aquatic programs, safety procedures, and operational practices
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patrons, and emergency personnel
• Outgoing, professional, and able to engage positively with the public

Preschool Teacher/Aide

We are looking for a kind, energetic, compassionate, patient individual to join our preschool team! Responsibilities include assisting the classroom teacher in the supervision and management of the class, ensuring the safety and physical well-being of the children, and contributing to a positive classroom environment where children are encouraged to grow socially, physically, emotionally and intellectually. Teachers will be responsible for planning age-appropriate projects and activities for their classes. The ideal candidate will have a warm, nurturing and supportive attitude toward children, have knowledge of child development principals in all areas of growth for children ages 1-5, and be able to work as a member of a team to ensure continuity of programming and a high standard of quality in across all SWPRD Preschool classes. 

The schedule is flexible and based on available classes, needs of the preschool program, and the employee’s availability. The preschool classes are Monday – Friday and generally operate in the 9:00 – 1:00 time frame.

Sports Program Coordinator

Our Sports Program Coordinator helps to maintain safe, organized and energetic operation of Adult and Youth Sports programming. This seasonal position requires staff to be available on days, nights and/or weekends as needed for approximately 15-20 hours per week.

Staff must be energetic, a self-starter who enjoys working with people of diverse ages and backgrounds and are able to interact with players and staff in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner.
