The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course prepares instructor candidates to teach Swimming and Water Safety programs, including Basic Water Rescue, Learn to Swim (all six levels), and Parent and Child Aquatics. The course requires approximately 6 hours of online learning prior to the first class.
Certification is valid for 2 years. Prerequisites include successfully passing a pre-course skills test demonstrating swimming proficiency at Level 4 standards, including swimming 25 yards each of front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, and 15 yards of butterfly. Participants must also tread water for 2 minutes and maintain a back float pr scull for 1 minute in deep water.

Both A & B classes will have a classroom portion on May 22nd from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation Facility Room 5.
